Though I believe life and death have different meanings in the end by the way we live now and how things will be eventually.
The actions in the second coming will be swift and give no time to repent before it ends. There are no second chances once we are taken or left behind the world will be waiting for it's final outcome once His people are taken up with Him. The ones left behind will roam the earth till he begins the cleansing and remaking of it for us with perfection and no sin left behind.
